Uprising & Fusion Shine In A Day of Upsets

It was a day of upsets as both ‘Korean Teams’ in the form of London Spitfire & New York Excel falling in five sets to their respective opponents, Boston Uprising and Philadelphia Fusion earlier today.

Despite the expected halt at the hands of Seoul Dynasty last week, the Uprising continues as Boston defied the odds to pull off the most stunning win of the Overwatch League this season thus far by defeating the heavily-favored London Spitfire in a 5-match thriller earlier today. We always knew that these Boston boys are on the rise and can only get better as the season progresses but no one expected it to happen this early. However, despite the crowd chanting ‘USA!USA!’ as Boston celebrated their win, it was the Korean-born Gamsu who starred for Uprising to upset his countrymen.

Proving to be one of the best DPS players in the league, DreamKazper again, popped off as he played a crucial role in matching Spitfire DPS players kill for kill en route to one of the most spectacular performances seen this season. The Korean-based teams are not invincible. They can be hurt. Blood is in the water and everyone has taken notice.

And it didn’t take long for the next upset to happen as the high-flying Philadelphia Fusion shocked everyone including those seated in the commentary box as they defeated New York Excelsior 3-2. Despite Saebyeolbe and Pine’s heroics, Fusion held strong and the DPS combination of ShaDowBurn and Carpe were much more effective up front as they carved through the London lineup. The win sends Fusion 3-2 and currently fifth in the overall standings but surely much higher in the eyes of many.

The results sets up really interesting matchups for the weekend with Excelsior aiming to bounce back as they face the Seoul Dynasty on Saturday. Meanwhile, both Uprising and Fusion seek to keep their momentum going in their weekend matches as Fusion face the resurgent Shanghai Dragons while Uprising square off against the Dallas Fuel.
