xQc Released by Dallas Fuel

The Dallas Fuel announced that they have parted ways with troublesome Canadian tank main, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel earlier today. First announced via a special post on their website, the Fuel also broke the news on Twitter

The official statement claimed that the decision for the split was mutual and the organization decided to cut short xQc’s contract, which was supposed to run til the end of the current Overwatch League season. The statement read:

‘The Dallas Fuel and tank player Félix “xQc” Lengyel announced they have mutually agreed to part ways. Lengyel, known as one of the best Winston players in the world, had appeared in six Overwatch League matches for the Dallas Fuel this season. His original contract with the team was set to expire at the end of the inaugural Overwatch League season.’

Commenting on it, Dallas Fuel team owner, Mike Rufail said “There are few players out there who have achieved as much success in as short a time as Félix has in competitive Overwatch. Ultimately, it was in the best interest of our organization and Félix to part ways before the expiration of his contract,”.

He added “Our focus is to field a roster with players that are available to help the Dallas Fuel succeed now and in the future. Releasing Félix today allows us the flexibility to make additional signings during the league transfer window and allows Félix to pursue other opportunities this season and on stream.”

This news follows Lengyel’s most recent suspension which makes him ineligible to compete in the league til the end of Stage 2. He was also fined $4000 for several infractions, one of which involving repeatedly posting an offensive Twitch icon on chat. It was his second suspension by the league, having been banned from competing towards the end of Stage 1.

With his release, the Dallas Fuel have one available slot to be filled before the transfer deadline kicks in. They recently signed Korean tank main OGE, while Taimou have been flexing to a tank role as well. Rumor also has it that Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned have been practicing on D.Va.

As for xQc, he has several options ahead of him but if he is to join another Overwatch League team, the decision has to be made soon before the transfer period closes. Also, due to his suspension, will only be able to play for his (presumably) new Overwatch League team at the start of Stage 3.
