Pokémon Sword & Shield Announced; Out This Year (Update)

As if a new Pokémon movie isn’t enough, Nintendo decided to host a new Nintendo Direct video talking about its next-gen digital monster cock-fighting RPG title. It’s officially called Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield.

In its 7-minute presentation, we learn that:

• Our starters will be a flippity fire rabbit Scorbunny, a shy water lizard named Sobble that can turn invisible, and a curious grass monkey named Grookey. Twitter, Tumblr, and the entire internet will be drawing out their favourite starters soon and share it with the world.
• It’ll be out for the Nintendo Switch. That’s a given since it’s a portable and home console all in one.
• You’ll be hunting and rearing Pokemon in the Galar region. It features vast plains, craggy snow mountains, and an industrial sector.
• It looks like a 3D version of the same game you’ve been playing since the late 90s on your Game Boy. Pokémon Let’s Go was a sneak peek at the game’s new engine; this game will be the real deal.
