Sega’s Virtual On Mech Combat Games To Be Out After November

We’re getting a possibly stellar Virtua On collection soon, right after the Twin Stick controllers are finished. Specifically, around this November, give or take.

According to a Famitsu interview, Tanita’s Business Planning Department Representative Akiko Kubo mentioned that development of Twin Stick controller is around 30% at the moment as well as finalising the button layouts and the interior parts’ design.

Why is it taking so long? That’s because the development team meets up to 3 times a month to discuss the controller’s development. Each decision is done meticulously so that it would be up-to-date yet still capturing the essence of the 1995 original arcade controller.

If all goes according to plan, the product will have a release window of November 2019.

The ported games in the upcoming collection will be Virtual On: Cyber Troopers, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram ver 5.66, and Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Forces. According to the interview, Kubo mentioned that Tanita might showcase the new controller at Tokyo Game Show 2019. If that’s the case, they might also reveal the release date for the PS4 Virtual On ports.

Here’s how the controller looks like in case you need a reminder.
