Knights Of Ren & Luke To Return In Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker

Just like it was for 2015’s Star Wars The Force Awakens and 2017’s Star Wars The Last Jedi, this year’s Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker is shrouded in mystery, not much having been revealed since its first trailer was released last month.

However, thanks to new information published by Vanity Fair, we now know more about the upcoming blockbuster movie, which is set to mark the end of the sequel trilogy and the Skywalker family saga.

The Knights of Ren Confirmed

Knights of Ren

Described as “elite fearsome enforcers of Kylo Ren’s dark will.”

The Knights of Ren have so far only been mentioned in passing and appeared briefly in a flashback sequence in Star Wars The Force Awakens. Ever since then, fans have been waiting to know more about this mysterious band of force-users who followed Kylo Ren after the destruction of Luke Skywalker’s new Jedi Temple.

Fans speculate that the reason why they weren’t in Star Wars The Last Jedi (other than Rian Johnson’s farce of a plot) is that they could be somewhere out there in the Outer Rim or event beyond the known reaches of the galaxy.

Whatever or whoever the Knights of Ren are will be answered in Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker, as they are set to appear in the upcoming movie. Let’s hope that they’re not wasted like Captain Phasma or Supreme Leader Snoke were.

Luke Skywalker Is Alive?

Luke Skywalker

One of the images shared by Vanity Fair shows Luke Skywalker standing beside R2-D2 surrounded by fire and smoke. Several questions arise from this picture alone. How is Luke alive after his death in Star Wars The Last Jedi? He doesn’t look like a Force Ghost in the image.

Luke looks corporeal enough to be alive. Then again, it could be from a flashback from when the Jedi Temple was destroyed. However, we’ve already seen snippets of that specific event in Star Wars The Last Jedi. Why would J.J. Abram retread the same ground?

This image opens up a lot of questions, which hopefully will be answered in Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker.

The Rise Of Skywalker Takes Place One Year After The Last Jedi

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker 1

A Kylo-Rey rematch.

Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker will take place one year after the devastating events of The Last Jedi. Besides that, we have no idea what to expect from the upcoming movie. Or do we?

According to sources close to the movie, Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker “will at long last bring to a climax the millennia-long conflict between the Jedi Order and its dark shadow, the Sith.”

What does that mean? Will the long-rumored grey Jedi finally appear and bring true balance to the Force? If so, will it be a Skywalker? Technically, Kylo Ren AKA Ben Skywalker is currently the last surviving member of the Skywalker family.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is slated to release on 20 December 2019. In the meantime, check out these other images from the set of the movie as published by Vanity Fair below:
