James Wan’s Mortal Kombat Movie Finds Its Sub-Zero

In case you missed it, James Wan and his Atomic Banner is currently producing a new Mortal Kombat movie, with Simon McQuoid set to direct. Not much is known about the movie’s plot but we have our first official casting for the iconic character Sub-Zero.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Indonesian actor and martial artist Joe Taslim will be playing the fighter with the ability to manipulate ice. Taslim is best known for playing Jaka in 2011’s The Raid, Jah in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, and most recently, Ito in Netflix’s The Night Comes For Us.
There have already been two previous Mortal Kombat adaptations, including 1995’s Mortal Kombat and 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Sub-Zero was present in both movies, played by François Petit and Keith Cooke, respectively.
Maybe now that we’re getting an actor with bonafide martial arts skills and fighting chops, we could get something like this…
