Thermaltake Is Launching An Office Chair For Gamers

Gaming chairs are a thing. What’s funny is that most gamers can’t even afford them due to most of the decent ones costing more than half the price of a game console.

Thermaltake has been making gaming chairs of their own for a while now. This year, they’re bringing out something different.

Introducing the Thermaltake CyberChair E500, an office chair that has all the bells and whistles of your typical gaming chair. It was introduced at the recent CES 2020 and is expected to release in February 2020.

According to PC Gamer, the CyberChair will be sold for US$599.99 (~RM2,450). It’s definitely cheaper compared to premium offerings from brands like Secret Lab and Vertagear but it’s still nowhere near the idea of an affordable home for your gamer butt.

“The CyberChair E500 offers a full range of adjustments including headrest, seat depth, height adjustment, and wire-control mechanism with multi lockable positions to reach maximum comfort.”

– Thermaltake, speaking to PC Gamer.

Don’t misunderstand: the CyberChair is still marketed as a gaming chair. I’m sure the highlight here is that it’s more appropriate for people who want an understated look for their gaming chair. It will definitely appeal to game developers who want their offices to look professional while still being ultra-comfortable.

Seeing how it was only recently revealed at CES 2020, details about the CyberChair are scarce. We only know that it has an aluminium frame and is made with a “highly breathable” permeable mesh cushion.

Aside from the adjustments stated in the above quote, the CyberChair also allows for back angle inclination of up to 117°. So yes, you’ll be able to do that thing PewDiePie does with his expensive gaming chair.

The US$599.99 price tag will be considered impressive to some but I believe it won’t really appeal to most gamers. The current selection of below US$500 gaming chairs still boast a lot of good choices.

For those of you who are interested, keep an eye on the Thermaltake gaming chair website catalogue. It will probably be posted there once we’re near the release date.
