Final Mulan Trailer Is The Most Action-Packed & Wuxia-Filled Yet

Disney has released the final trailer for its upcoming live-action Mulan movie, and it’s the most action-packed one yet. While it is an adaptation of the iconic 1998 animated movie of the same name, this new trailer doesn’t hide the fact that it’s essentially an English-language wuxia film.

Just for reminder, Mushu the dragon and songs from the original animated movie will be absent from the live-action adaptation, as the live-action Mulan movie screenplay is based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan”.

The final trailer showcases more epic war battle scenes, as well as the level of wuxia action one can expect from the upcoming movie. It looks more like a Chinese production with a massive Disney budget behind it, rather than a typical ‘faithful’ remake like 2019’s Aladdin or The Lion King.

Directed by Niki Caro, Disney’s Mulan stars Liu Yifei as Mulan, Donnie Yen as mentor figure Commander Tung, Yoson An as a fellow soldier (and love interest) Chen Honghui, Tzi Ma as Mulan’s father, and Jet Li as the emperor of China.

Disney’s Mulan is slated to premiere on 27 March 2020. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
