Cyberpunk 2077 Is Still Coming In September, CD Projekt Red Confirms

If you’re itching to get your hands on Cyberpunk 2077 on September, don’t worry. CD Projekt Red, which has been working from home since March, has confirmed that the open-world cyberpunk RPG is still on track for its current September release date despite the current COVID-19 pandemic.

In a post that highlighted parts their financial statement, President and CEO Adam Kiciński said:

“There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work.

We’ve been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions.

Our plans haven’t changed – we’re steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk.”

The post added that “The Group’s longstanding strategy of avoiding debt and accumulating cash reserves means that it is well prepared to continue with its work even in tough times”.

Cyberpunk 2077 was previously delayed from its original April release date to 17 September 2020, so anticipating gamers will likely be relieved that it won’t receive yet another delay. It’s my most (and so far only) anticipated game of the year so I’m pleased to hear this too, though I was concerned when I heard that the developers would still have to crunch despite the delay from April.

The post also revealed that GOG had posted 162 million PLN (RM168 million) in revenue, and that CD Projekt posted 521 million PLN (RM539 million) in 2019 sales revenue, 44% more than 2018. They credited the improvement to “excellent sales of The Witcher 3, including its new Nintendo Switch release, and the launch of GWENT on mobile devices”.
