No Plans To Announce New Switch Model Anytime Soon, Says Nintendo
Nintendo has reportedly said that they’re not planning to announce a new model of the Nintendo Switch “anytime soon”.
During a recent investor Q&A, Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki reports that Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa was asked whether the company would announce an upgraded model of the Nintendo Switch in 2021.
His answer is simple but vague:
“Not anytime soon”.
Q: new model this year?
A: not planning to make an annoucement anytime soon as we have Mario ver in Feb, MH ver in Mar.Hint: Nintendo chief last year said not planning to release new model in 2020. Today's was just "not anytime soon." So, that means…?https://t.co/MQkwskXYrn

There were rumours even late last year that Nintendo was planning to launch a new Nintendo Switch model in 2021. Games business analyst David Gibson, also re-iterated the same thing, claiming that there were no plans for a new model, with the exception of special limited-edition models like Mario and Monster Hunter Rise.
It remains to be seen if the Nintendo Switch will be as relevant this generation as it was during the PS4/Xbox One era. Can it stand up to the technical prowess of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, or will it finally falter? Only time will tell, but so far, the Nintendo Switch is still going as strong as ever.
