Disney+ Launchpad Is Looking For Directors, Writers & More

Disney’s Launchpad is a new filmmaking program with a focus on building a more inclusive entertainment industry. The company is looking for directors, writers and more from underrepresented backgrounds with diverse and varied perspectives, including women, people of colour, the LGBTQ community, various religious groups, military veterans, people with disabilities and more.

Those chosen will be able to produce a short as part of the Disney Launchpad: Shorts Incubator program. The narrative focus of Season 2 will be “Connection”. On the official website, applications opened on 10 May 2021 and will close on 11 June 2021, with the program starting in December 2021.

The first season consisted of six short films, each centring on the theme of “Discover” which will launch on Disney+ on 28 May 2021. The program’s inaugural year features stories by Ann Marie Pace, Aqsa Altaf, Hao Zheng, Jessica Mendez Siqueiros, Moxie Peng and Stefanie Abel Horowitz.

“American Eid”

“Dinner Is Served”

“The Last of the Chupacabras”
