Loki Season 2 Will Not See The Return Of Director Kate Herron
By Alleef Ashaari|July 17, 2021|0 Comment
Loki Season 1 has officially ended its run on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia, but a second season has already been confirmed at the end of the first season’s final episode. Unfortunately, one of the driving forces behind the series will not be returning for the next season; namely Loki director Kate Herron.
Speaking with Deadline, Herron said:
“I’m not returning.
I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the; that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited.
I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all.
I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.â€
What’s curious is that it sounds like not even Kate really knew that Loki would be getting a second season until recently. Does that mean it was only ever meant to be a single season? Perhaps we’ll learn more about what to expect from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole when we finally get to watch Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings in September, Eternals in November, and Spider-Man No Way Home in December.
In the meantime, you can check out my breakdowns of all the Loki Season 1 episodes here; Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6.
Courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia, I was also lucky enough to be the only Malaysian media to participate in roundtable interviews with Loki Costume Designer Christine Wada and Loki Production Designer Kasra Farahani.
