Major Dragon Ball FighterZ World Championship Tournament Postponed

COVID-19 hasn’t gone away yet, unfortunately, meaning some offline events will be facing casualties and postponements.

One of them is the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ World Championship Finals, which was slated for February 2022 before it was postponed recently. This is due to “considerations of safety under the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The postponement is “indefinite”, which means it isn’t cancelled yet. Perhaps the tournament will happen in the near future once things calm down with COVID-19. Here are some statements from the organizers and from the game producer Tomoko Hiroki.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have been studying solutions on how to hold an event in a way that will allow players and other concerned parties to participate safely. However in consideration of everyone’s safety, we have made the difficult decision to indefinitely postpone the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Championship Finals, which was scheduled on February 19 & 20 CET (18 & 19 PST), 2022.

We will continue to take the situation into consideration and make a decision on whether or not to hold the tournament. We appreciate your continued support and understanding.

A special online event is being planned for the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2022, in which the championship was planned to be streamed. We will update you on social media as soon as possible, so please stay tuned.

Words from Producer Tomoko Hiroki

It’s very disappointing for all of us to inform you that the World Championship Final has been postponed indefinitely.

However, we are now planning to host a special event for the Dragoon Ball Games Battle Hour 2022, that will hopefully deliver a different kind of fun from the regular tournaments.

Please look forward to it!
