Developer The Aristocrats and publisher Slitherine Software have announced that Starship Troopers Terran Command is now slated to release on 16 June 2022 for PC via Steam. The RTS game was originally set to release on 31 March 2022.
The statement reads:
“We know many will find this announcement disappointing and we apologize. We truly feel that a few extra months of further polish and bug fixing will make a significant difference. We intend to deliver a finished and polished game, and it is very important for us that you are able to fully enjoy the game from day 1, without any issue spoiling your fun or without having to wait for future patches or hotfixes.”
Starship Troopers Terran Command will feature a singleplayer campaign made up of 21 missions, beginning (just like in the 1997 movie) with the attack on Klendathu. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know that it doesn’t go well, and as a result, the player gets redeployed to Kwalasha; a desert backwater world that’s gained sudden strategic importance thanks to the discovery of some very rich mineral deposits.
The Starship Troopers franchise has long fizzled out into straight-to-video obscurity after the success of Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers movie in 1997. The first movie was the only one that barely managed to capture the satirical and sardonic tone of the original novel by Robert A. Heinlein.
