The Next Stephen King Adaptation, The Boogeyman, Gets Spooky First Trailer
The next Stephen King movie adaptation from 20th Century Studios, The Boogeyman, has received its first trailer. The horror movie was initially supposed to release on Hulu but is now going to premiere in cinemas on 2 June 2023 after positive test screenings and approval from Stephen King himself.
The synopsis reads:
High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.

From Host and Dashcam director Rob Savage, The Boogeyman stars Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Chris Messina (Birds of Prey) star alongside David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad), Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man, The Umbrella Academy), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box, Mr. Corman) and Madison Hu (Voyagers).
Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), Akela Cooper (Malignant) and Mark Heyman (Black Swan) worked on the script. Stranger Things producers 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine & Dan Cohen are producing the film.
The original short story of The Boogeyman was first published in 1973, before being featured in Stephen King’s Night Shift collection in 1978. This is the first live-action adaptation of the story.
