Star Wars Jedi Survivor Gameplay Confirms You Can Cut Off Limbs

EA’s Respawn Entertainment has unveiled new gameplay footage of Star Wars Jedi Survivor via IGN Fan Fest last weekend. What’s interesting about the new gameplay footage is that it shows Cal Kestis actually cutting off the hands and legs of stormtroopers when he slashes with his lightsaber.

Why is that significant? It’s been a while since lightsabers have been allowed to actually cut off limbs in any Star Wars IP since Disney purchased Lucasfilm. For instance, the Sequel Trilogy doesn’t feature anyone losing their limbs, despite it being an iconic part of the Original and Prequel trilogies. One example is both Luke and Anakin Skywalker getting their hands cut off, and another example is Jango Fett getting his head cut off by Mace Windu in Star Wars Episode II Attack Of The Clones.

It’s great to see Disney finally allowing limbs to be cut off by lightsabers again. A big reason why they’re so badass is that they should be able to cut through anything, which is part of the franchise lore, so limbs are a given.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor will now launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 28 April 2023.

Picking up five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi Survivor is a third-person, narrative-driven action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. No longer a Padawan, Cal has come into his own and grown into a powerful Jedi Knight. Carrying the memories and expectations of the Jedi Order with him, his crusade against the Empire has only become more perilous. The Dark Times is closing in – with enemies new and familiar surrounding him, Cal will need to decide how far he’s willing to go to save those closest to him.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out our full review of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order here to find out why we named it one of the best games of 2019.
