Studio In Charge Of Ubisoft’s Beyond Good And Evil 2 At “Breaking Point”
The still-in-production Ubisoft adventure game Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still facing a ton of development and staff issues since its first trailer reveal in 2008.
Reports from Kotaku stated that Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio in charge of developing the game, is under investigation by the local government due to a huge amount of burnout and sick leave among staff. Also, the company lost its managing director Guillaume Carmona, along with a creative director and game director.
The news came from three anonymous sources who said the studio has faced an investigation from Inspection du Travail -the French Labour Inspection body- after a year when numerous staff and lead developers took extended absences from the company due to sickness and stress. A third-party has been given the task of interviewing Ubisoft Montpellier employees to assess their physical and mental health.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in active development, as far as we know. For 15 years since that one trailer with main character Jade meditating on a hood of a car. It’s been in development for so long that it beat Duke Nukem Forever’s record for the longest development time.
