Activision Confirms Call of Duty: Mobile Is Here To Stay

Activision has confirmed that they will continue to support the game for the long run, despite rumours that it will be phased out to make way for Warzone Mobile. In an official statement, the company emphasized that COD Mobile is an important part of the entire Call of Duty franchise and its overall mobile strategy.

They even promised a “robust roadmap of fresh new CODM content, activities, and updates”.

Interestingly, Microsoft also announced its plan to acquire Activision Blizzard and all of its franchises, including Call of Duty, last year. Microsoft stated that Call of Duty Mobile will be phased out over time when Warzone Mobile is released. However, Call of Duty Mobile will still operate in China, according to Microsoft, since the game is owned by Tencent.

So what can we expect in the future? It seems that Call of Duty Mobile and Warzone Mobile will coexist. While Warzone Mobile is focused on battle royale, Activision is hoping to offer a genuine Warzone experience with 120 online players, a huge map, vehicles, and mechanics like the Gulag, all on iOS and Android devices.

It’s worth noting that one of the main reasons Microsoft is so keen on acquiring Activision Blizzard is to get into the lucrative mobile game space. Activision has plans to create mobile games based on every single one of its many franchises, which would all become Microsoft properties if the deal goes through.
