PS5 Shipments Surpass 38.4 Million Units, May Break Annual Consoles Sales Record

According to Sony’s financial reports, the PS5 has shipped 38.4 million units worldwide. Sony also revealed that they plan to sell a record number of PlayStation consoles during its current fiscal year.

During the earnings presentation, Sony’s president, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki, said:

“Based on this forecast, we believe that 25 million units within this fiscal year is something that we think we can achieve.”

That is a possible number, considering that we’re getting more PS5 exclusives later this year, including Final Fantasy 16 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s a good year for Sony.

Other statistics include:

  • There are 47.4 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of March 31, 2023.
  • There are 108 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network as of March 31, 2023.
  • PS5 and PS4 software combined sold 68 million units during the three months ended March 31, 2023. 70 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads.
