[Rumour] PlayStation Signs Exclusive Deal For Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill & Castlevania Games

Back in October 2021, there were rumours that Konami was working on new games from the Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and Silent Hill franchises. This includes a possible Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater remake in development at an external studio in China and the Singapore-based Virtuos studio, as well as remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games for modern consoles.

Recently, podcast host Nick Baker revived the rumours this past weekend, while Windows Central editor Jez Corden also claimed that he “heard similar” stuff. In a follow-up tweet, he added:

“Just heard Sony landed a deal with Konami for Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and maybe even a new Castlevania.”

However, it’s better to take all this with a grain of salt for now, especially since Sony PlayStation and Konami have not officially announced anything at the time of writing. The only remaster or remake announced by Konami so far is the Silent Hill 2 remake, which is slated to launch sometime this year. Their last game in the Metal Gear franchise was the universally-derided Metal Gear Survive in 2018.

With the E3 season and the summer season coming up soon in June 2023, we might be getting some official announcements sooner than we expected.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake was originally announced back in October 2022 during a PlayStation State Of Play live stream, but the game hasn’t received a proper release date or release window yet. It is slated to launch for the PS5 and PC.

In the meantime, re-watch the trailer below:
