Blizzard Confirms Annual Expansions for Diablo 4
Diablo fans, we’ve got news! General Manager of the Diablo franchise, Rod Fergusson has confirmed in a recent interview that Diablo 4 will get annual expansions. In an earlier interview, Fergusson has already commented on Diablo’s plans for expansions. Two expansions are currently in the works at Blizzard.

When asked about the actual length of Diablo 4 development in an interview, this was Fergusson’s response.
“But, you know, it’s years and years. That’s the thing we’re focused on. When you look at the launch of the game and this first season, we see that as building a foundation on which we can build for the future. So, as we look at our quarterly seasons, and we look at our annual expansions, those are the things that we’re really focused on for our live service.” -Rod Fergusson, General Manager of the Diablo franchise.
The community has some concerns about the development team’s ambitious plans. Some people are unhappy that players will have to purchase full-price expansions every year to access new content like new classes. On the other hand, some are hopeful for frequent updates that bring significant changes to the game, including new systems and reworks.
