Convergent To Officially Distribute Nintendo Switch Consoles In Malaysia

There’s a new Nintendo Switch distribution player in town here in Malaysia. Consoles, games, accessories; the works!

Convergent Distribution has secured distribution rights to be the publisher for Malaysia according to an official announcement on the company’s website. Previously this was done by the Singapore-based company Maxsoft.

The distribution house will have the consoles available in major retailers in your favourite malls in the country; we’re guessing places like Midvalley Megamall to any of the giant Aeons countrywide. We’ll have the full list when Convergent officially announces the full list, as well as how it handles its exchange policy for consoles and Joycon controllers in the country.

Having a local distribution house in the country means more general retailers in Malaysia to work with, as well as price stability for first-party Nintendo products. This means you won’t be spending so much on grey marketing or even jacked-up prices from past distributors.

Nintendo’s Future In Malaysia?

This also means that Convergent will be distributing the much-rumoured second version/updated Nintendo Switch that’s allegedly coming out in early 2024. It’s been 2017 since the original Switch launched, so it’s eventually going to happen; it’s just a matter of when. We do hope to see much-needed improvements like CPU/GPU upgrades, an OLED display, and 4K resolution, fingers crossed.

In any case, we’ll be sure to update this newspiece when we get more information and updates from the Malaysian-based distribution house.
