Sci-Fi Metroidvania Somber Echoes Coming In Fall 2024

Publisher Bonus Stage Publishing and developer Rock Pocket Games have unveiled their anticipated title, Somber Echoes, which draws inspiration from ancient Greek tragedies blended with modern sci-fi.

Set approximately 3000 years into the future, players embark on a journey aboard the ancient Greco-Roman spaceship, Atromitos. This once-magnificent vessel has now been invaded by terrifying entities from another dimension, transforming it into a dangerous and foreboding environment. The game’s narrative revolves around Adrestia, who has been mysteriously awakened by an unknown force to prevent her twin sister, Harmonia, from causing the universe’s unravelling.

As players navigate the seven visually distinctive districts of Atromitos, they must gather various powers, knowledge, and skills to ensure their survival and the fate of the universe. With each passing district, they encounter new dangers and challenges that test their reflexes, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

In terms of combat, players will have the opportunity to excel in combat by mastering the art of acrobatic freedom. The game features an environment that embraces various gameplay styles, ensuring that there is something for everyone. The spear offers players increased freedom and holds great advantages in certain combat situations.

Additionally, the Progressive Traversal system will enable players to acquire new powers that will allow them to traverse new locations, granting even greater freedom in combat. The addition of the Parry and Counterattack features, where players must time their parries effectively, will be crucial in the game.

Although no specific date has been disclosed, Somber Echoes is slated to launch sometime in the Fall of 2024 for PC via Steam.
