Yeah, so this episode has a ton of deaths and heavy stuff going on. This is basically X-Men ’97’s version of New X-Men #114 where the mutant nation of Genosha goes through a mutant culling most heinous.

X-Men ’97 Episode Breakdown & Easter Eggs

Loads Of Mutants On The Streets of Genosha

Glob Herman, Pixie, Leech, and another mutant happen to be new occupants of Genosha, living life carefree. Also, there’s Lin Li/Nature Girl if you’re quick enough to spot her.

Jamie Madroxx (Multiple Man), Dazzler, Exodus, & Cipher (Alisa Tager) another intangible mutant dancing on the streets of Genosha.

Nightcrawler Returns

He’s in Genosha acting as Rogue and Gambit’s tour guide. Still has the German accent.

Hellfire Club, Banshee, & Callisto

They’re all gathered in a Genosha council meeting with Magneto: Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, Banshee, Moira Mctaggert, and Callisto of the Morlocks.

Squid-Boy

From Chuck Austen’s X-Men run, Uncanny X-Men #410. In the comics, Squid-Boy was friends with Juggernaut after saving the former from drowning in the ocean.

Cable Comes From The Future

Cable makes a guest appearance to warn Madelyn Pryor about a big-ass Sentinel from the future. Cable is Nathan Summers from the future who has contained his techorganic virus via Mr. Sinister (in episode #3) thanks to future medicine and healing technology.

Wild Sentinels

The Sentinel that invaded Genosha is a giant three-headed variant that undocks “smaller” Sentinels. It’s clearly this universe’s Wild Sentinel from New X-Men #114 (the Grant Morrison run). Just like its comic book counterpart, it really lived up to its mutant genocidal tendencies.

Tommy of the Morlocks

This big-haired mutant has the power to render herself into a two-dimensional state in which her body is as flat as paper. Marvel’s words, not mine.

Until then, excelsior! Sure, loads of mutants like Gambit, Callisto, and Magneto all died, but there’s always time-travelling via Cable to fix things, right? RIGHT?!?!
