SNK Re-Releases SNK Vs Capcom For Current Consoles; Out Now!

After the KOF XV top 6 EVO 2024 tournament, SNK announced a new port of one of its existing fighting games, and it’s quite a doozy.

SNK has announced SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The new port will have all 36 SNK and Capcom characters selectable from the get-go, including superbosses Athena (the goddess version, not the Psycho Soldier version) and Red Arremer/Firebrand, a hitbox viewer for training mode, a gallery mode to see the game’s artwork, key art, and portraits, and rollback netcode for online play.

SNK vs Capcom was fun to play back when it came out in 2003, it was 3 years too late to run coincidingly with Capcom vs SNK. The game was quite unbalanced, had too many shoto characters in its roster, and had absurd win conditions with superbosses that would make SNK big bads like KOF ’94 Rugal and KOF 2021 Igniz blush. To be fair, SNK went bankrupt in 2000 onward, and was bought over by Eolith.

When can you play it? It’s out right now! While this alone is good news for retro fighting game fans, this also means that Capcom might announce their side of the rivalry back in the late 90s and 2000s; specifically Capcom VS SNK and Capcom VS SNK 2. Who knows? They might announce this tomorrow on Monday morning (GMT+8)!
