A New Darksiders Is In The Works

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games are bringing back a dormant post-apocalyptic action-adventure franchise, possibly for a fifth run.

The two companies are working on a new Darksiders game, following a teaser trailer and the following message:

“Be prepared to ride again…,” reads the teaser text. “Will we reveal anything else at this point in history? No.”

The first Darksiders game came out for Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010, and was basically a 3D The Legend of Zelda-type game with a mix of action and combo-based combat. You played as War, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse as you attempt to solve the conspiracy between Heaven and Hell following a premature apocalypse. The game was followed up by Darksiders II in 2012 starring Death and Darksiders III in 2018 starring Fury. A spin-off game called Darksiders Genesis followed suite, which featured War and Strife, as well as became a top-down co-op action game. The series was created by David Adams and longtime comic book artist legend Joe Madureira.
