Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Begins Development With Story Complete
Exciting news for fans of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy: the story for its third instalment is finished, and the game has officially entered full-scale production. This update comes directly from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase during G-CON 2024 in Korea.
While keeping quiet about the plot’s finer details, the duo confirmed that the writing phase is complete and that the development team is now laser-focused on building the game itself.
Speaking with the Japanese outlet, 4Gamer, Kitase offered a tantalising hint about what’s to come:
“Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provided a vast map, but in the third game, the Highwind (airship) will appear, so we need to let you experience the world from a higher perspective. We won’t cheat with the airship system, but challenge it head-on so that players can freely fly around the map.”

This marks an exciting evolution for the trilogy, whose first two parts launched in 2020 and 2024. Given the development timeline, fans can likely expect Part 3 to still be a few years away.
Hamaguchi had previously shared his ambitions for the game back in August during an event at the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He boldly declared that the final chapter could stand among the greatest video games of all time. While it’s a lofty claim, only time will tell if this vision becomes reality.
One thing is certain: the conclusion to this epic remake trilogy is shaping up to be nothing short of spectacular.
