Godzilla Minus One Director Is Officially Working On The Next Godzilla Movie

Toho has officially announced that Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki is the director and writer of the next Godzilla movie.

However, at the time of writing, it’s unclear if this will be a sequel to Godzilla Minus One or a brand new unrelated Godzilla movie.

Godzilla Minus One is now available to watch on Netflix.

Godzilla Minus One originally premiered in Japan on 3 November 2023 and in the US on 1 December 2023, but it hasn’t been released in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. There have been many rumours and much speculation on the matter, but earlier this year, local Malaysian cinema chain GSC Cinemas confirmed the reason why Godzilla Minus One hasn’t been released in Malaysia and the rest of Southeast Asia.

Godzilla Minus One is the 30th live-action film in Toho’s long-running kaiju franchise after 2016’s Shin Godzilla. It is notable for being the first Godzilla movie in history to win an Oscar; it won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards in March 2024.
