Spyro Tease Sparks Game Pass Excitement

It looks like Xbox Game Pass might soon be welcoming the beloved purple dragon, Spyro, to its lineup. Xbox’s Game Pass account recently posted an image featuring a chest from the Spyro series with a playful caption: “Hey, uhh, who left this chest here?” The official Spyro account added a pair of eye emojis in response, hinting that something may indeed be on the way.

Rumours of Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 joining Game Pass have been swirling since the summer. Microsoft’s massive US$69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard paved the way, starting with Diablo 4’s addition to Game Pass in March. Since then, Game Pass has expanded with classics like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Call of Duty titles such as Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6. Most recently, StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection were also added.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a remaster by Toys for Bob, brings the magic of the original trilogy to modern platforms. Released initially in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, then later on Nintendo Switch and PC, this collection includes the original three classics: Spyro the Dragon (1998), Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! (1999), and Spyro: Year of the Dragon (2000). As Microsoft now publishes Toys for Bob’s next project, the potential Game Pass debut of Spyro could be just the beginning of new adventures for the studio’s iconic characters.
