Ranma 1/2 Season 2 Announced Following End Of First Season

Following the release of the final episode of Ranma 1/2 Season 1 reboot on Netflix, Studio MAPPA has announced that Ranma 1/2 Season 2 is in the works.

However, there is no release date or release window yet (at the time of writing).

A special illustration by the anime’s character designer Hiromi Taniguchi was also released to commemorate the announcement.

Rumiko Takahashi debuted the original manga in August 1987 and ended it in March 1996. It was then adapted into an anime series starting in April 1989, and later spawned two movies, a theatrical anime, and OVAs, with the final OVA episode shipping in January 1996. The adventure comedy manga/anime still remains insanely popular to this day, because it has comedy and popularized the harem anime subgenre before other shows like Love Hina did the same.

The Ranma 1/2 anime also spawned a number of SNES one-versus-one fighting games like Ranma 1/2: Ch?nai Gekit?hen, Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle, and Ranma 1/2: Chougi Ranbu Hen. Meanwhile, MAPPA is best known for producing various famous anime, including Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

The first 12 episodes of the Ranma 1/2 reboot are now streaming on Netflix. Check out our review of it by heading over here.
