Avowed PS5 Port? Director’s Reaction Fuels Speculation

The closer we get to Avowed’s launch, the louder the whispers become—could Obsidian’s fantasy RPG make its way to PlayStation 5? Set in the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed lands on Xbox and PC on 18 February, with the usual Game Pass treatment. But if recent trends are anything to go by, its “Xbox exclusive” status might just be a temporary arrangement.

Microsoft’s recent generosity with its exclusives—sending Forza Horizon 5 drifting onto PlayStation, teasing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for a PS5 adventure, and even sparking Starfield port rumours—has thrown fans into a frenzy. The Outer Worlds 2 was already confirmed for a day-one PS5 release at The Game Awards, so why wouldn’t Avowed follow suit?

Now, here’s where things get interesting. In a MinnMax interview, Avowed’s director, Carrie Patel, was casually ambushed with a question about a potential PS5 port. Her response? A brief nod, then a quick recovery into a shrug. A harmless reaction—or an unspoken confirmation? Either way, it’s added fuel to the already roaring fire of speculation.

Officially, Avowed is an Xbox console exclusive, unlike The Outer Worlds 2, which had a multiplatform past. But with Microsoft seemingly loosening its grip on exclusivity, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Avowed chart a course to Sony’s shores sometime after launch.

For now, Xbox and PC players can dive into Avowed’s fantasy adventure on 18 February. As for PlayStation users? Well, they might just need to sit tight and watch the rumour mill keep spinning.
