Hellblade 2 Might Be Heading to PS5 Sooner Than Expected

Microsoft’s strategy of keeping its games locked in the Xbox vault seems to be loosening, and the next title to break free? Hellblade 2. Yes, you heard that right—Ninja Theory’s long-awaited sequel might be making its way to PS5, and it could be arriving faster than you can say “console exclusivity.”

This juicy tidbit comes courtesy of Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who took to X to hint that Hellblade 2 on PS5 isn’t a matter of “if” but when. And according to him, “when” is just around the corner.

Conveniently, Sony has a 40-minute State of Play event lined up, focusing on upcoming PS5 games. Corden cheekily responded to the announcement with, “Hellblade 2 time maybe? :)” before doubling down with, “Not if, ‘when!’ and when is pretty soon from what I’ve been hearing.”

If this is true, it marks yet another step in Microsoft’s ongoing multiplatform strategy shift. The company has already started shipping its games to PlayStation and Nintendo, with Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded leading the charge. Meanwhile, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Indiana Jones, and the Great Circle have been confirmed for PS5, and even Forza Horizon 5 will make the jump later this year.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has made it clear that the days of strict Xbox exclusivity are fading fast, with every game now being considered on a case-by-case basis. His colleague, Matt Booty, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that production schedules, rather than sheer stubbornness, dictate when (or if) games land on other platforms.

So, if you’re a PS5 player eyeing Hellblade 2, it might just be a matter of waiting a little longer. But hey, at least you won’t have to suffer through another “It’s an Xbox exclusive!” argument in the meantime.
