Nickelodeon Avatar Animated Series Gets New Entry, Focuses On Earth
Fire, Air, Water, and now Earth: this is the elemental cycle in Nickelodeon’s Avatar series. We already have seen an Air-using protagonist in Avatar: The Last Airbender and a Waterbender lead in Avatar: The Legend of Korra. And now we’ve hit Earth with an upcoming series in the much-revered series.
Nickelodeon will create a new story out of the ever-evolving Avatar world with a new animated series called Avatar: Seven Havens. The new 2D animated series will feature 26 half-hour episodes spread across 2 seasons “Avatar” style (Book 1 and Book 2). Series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will be leading the production with Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi.
Here is the synopsis:
“[Set in] a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its saviour.
Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
Here’s a quote from the creators hyping up the upcoming animated series:
“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”
On a related note, there is an upcoming Avatar film focused on Aang and characters from The Last Airbender slated for January 2026. It stars Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza and Eric Nam.
