New Ghost Of Yotei Information Unveiled; Still Slated For 2025
Sucker Punch Productions, the developers behind Ghost of Tsushima and the inFamous series, are hard at work with the next ninja/samurai open world game follow-up. While the game is still en route for its 2025 launch window, some new information has popped up on the game’s official website.
-The game’s plot takes place 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, in 1603 (the Edo period).
-We now know main character Atsu’s motivation and goal: she is seeking to get revenge for the death of her family after her homestead is destroyed.
-Atsu wield new weapon types in the game: dual katanas, odachi, and kusarigama (Chain and sickle)
-The new landscapes in the game provide massive sightlines with sprawling grasslands and icy tundras, with vegetation swaying believably in the wind.
-New mechanics and gameplay improvements
–The land surrounding Mount Yotei is outside the rule of Japan – a wild frontier filled with unexpected dangers. Whether the game will take place in the 1600s cityscapes as well remains to be seen.
This dripfeed is what we have so far, at least until Sony decides to show off more Ghost of Yotei in the middle of year during June (ie: the Summer Games Fest/former-E3 period of big game industry news).
