Asia Gaming Beat: 26 July 2025
If you’re in the virtual YouTuber space of video game-watching, this week is pretty spicy in that regard.
The Big Picture
In the video games industry, the talent can usually be bigger than the brand itself. Companies would do their best to keep them around as long as possible just to stay relevant. Such is the case of prolific virtual YouTuber (VTuber) Ironmouse, whose former talent agency who managed her clearly needs to rethink their business decisions.
A Puerto Rican Twitch streamer, gamer, and singer, she made her VTuber start in 2017 and has been a founding member of USA-based VTuber talent agency VShojo. She also has been a prominent advocate for common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and has done a number of charity livestreams for this cause.
So when VShojo and its higher-ups decide to be a greedy corporation and pressure up-and-coming talent to work for them with unfair contracts, and also allegedly mishandle charity funds and payments, the company is signing its own death warrant. This is especially if your brand is pretty reliant on a good number of talent so big, they can do fine on their own without an agency bogging them down.
On 21 July 2025, Ironmouse left VShojo because she wasn’t paid what she was owed and because the agency did not pay up the donations amassed for the recent Immune Deficiency Foundation. Ironmouse came out unscathed, while VShojo is more or less done for with all of its affiliated VTubers ditching them to go solo.

It’s good to know that even in most cases where big corporations get away with greed, that there would be one big story where the good guys win.
