WWE 2K22 Announced During Wrestlemania 37

Publisher 2K Games and developer Visual Concepts have officially announced WWE 2K22 at WrestleMania 37. The very first teaser video features both live-action and stunning in-game footage of WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio.

In the teaser, Rey Mysterio, a high-flying Lucha libre legend and one of the most exciting and decorated Superstars in WWE history, slips on his iconic mask, enters the ring, sets up his opponent, Cesaro, and connects with his electrifying 619 signature move. The video concludes with a note confirming WWE 2K22 will be coming soon and the tagline “It Hits Different.”

However, no specific platforms and release date were announced or confirmed for WWE 2K22. For now, you can stay tuned on the official Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts for the upcoming game.

There was no WWE 2K game in 2020, which marked the first time that a game in the WWE 2K franchise (previously known as WWF/WWE SmackDown! when it was under THQ) did not receive an annual entry since it originally began with 2000’s WWF SmackDown!.

2019’s WWE 2K20 was universally derided by gamers and reviewers alike, as the game is broken and littered with glitches and bugs to the point of near-unplayability. This was possibly due to the last-minute split between publisher 2K and long-time WWE 2K developer Yuke’s.

WWE 2K22 will likely be the first wrestling games for the next-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it will be interesting to see if there will be any major improvements. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below.
