Callisto Protocol Cancelled In Japan For Excessive Gore
The upcoming survival horror game Callisto Protocol will not be out in one country: Japan.
According to a recent post on the game’s Twitter page, the space horror game with the gore and violence from ex-Dead Space developers will be cancelled in Japan following a thumbs-down from the country’s Computer Entertainment Rating Organisation (CERO). The official statement is that developer Striking Distance Studios will cancel the Japanese release of the game instead of making the changes necessary to appease the ratings board.

Fans from Japan who pre-ordered the game will get a refund. The reason for this hasn’t been clear, but we’re guessing the game’s excessive violence and dismemberment is the main reason. However, Japanese players can still buy the game through grey market means.
The Callisto Protocol will be out on 2nd December for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms and consoles.
