Riot Games Relaunches League Of Legends And Teamfight Tactics In Southeast Asia With In-Game Rewards & More

Riot Games today celebrates the relaunch of League Of Legends  and Teamfight Tactics in Southeast Asia. This relaunch signifies the start of Riot server operations and publishing for both games across the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand,  Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Vietnam, concluding their 12-year publishing partnership with  Garena.

Last year on 18 November 2022, account migration commenced for players to transfer their Garena  League/TFT account data over to their Riot accounts. Upon successful migration and now with new Riot servers launched, players can look forward to being a part of the Riot ecosystem, gaining access to content that was previously unavailable in cross-franchise events, as well as exciting out-of-game experiences including community activities and Riot-operated esports.

Players in the region will also gain access to regional Riot publishing services including  Localization, Billing, and Player Support, as well as future local marketing activations and partnerships. From here on out, all SEA League and TFT players will be playing on the Riot  Client as well.

Talking about the relaunch, Alex Kraynov, Managing Director for Riot Games in APAC said:

“Riot’s goal with this migration is to provide Southeast Asian players with the best experience and the same level of in-game events and content as we do for players in other Riot regions.  League Of Legends’ players will also enjoy deeper content integration within the Riot ecosystem,  and exciting in-game and cross-franchise campaigns. It is important to us that players feel themselves as not just in the world of League, but in the overall Riot ecosystem.”

Andrei van Roon, Head of League Studio, said:

“We’re really excited to be able to talk more with our players in Southeast Asia starting this  month. We’re grateful for the hard work that  Garena put into bringing our games to players up until now, and can’t wait to continue building  on the foundations they have set.”

With this announcement, Riot now self-publishes all five of its titles including VALORANT, League Of Legends Wild Rift, and Legends Of Runeterra in the region.

Relaunch Events and Rewards

To celebrate the relaunch, Riot Games has announced that the rolling ranked season will start from 10 January 2023. Players can also look forward to a Welcome Event kicking off on 13 January 2023,  through which they can earn different kinds of Tokens, which can be exchanged for free  permanent skin shards, legendary eggs, and even Ultimate skins.

Additionally, in honour of League’s original launch, SEA players will get the unique opportunity to  unlock all champions released from 2009–2021 for free just by completing in-game missions. Riot  will also usher in the festive season with the Lunar New Year Event that starts 13 January 2023.

Teamfight Tactics Monsters Attack! Progression

SEA players’ TFT Monsters Attack! Set 8 rank will migrate to the new Riot servers as well. With  the relaunch, players will find Set 8 content waiting for them on the new Riot servers. Although  players’ Monsters Attack Pass progress will not be carried over, the purchase of the Monsters  Attack Pass and any earned inventory will be migrated. Players will receive a modified version of  the Monsters Attack Pass related missions that offer players an accelerated accumulation of  experience as a one-time benefit tied to the welcome event to make up for the reduced time to  play.

League Season 2023 Kickoff Tournament

This new esports season also signifies the change in ownership and operations of League esports. Riot Games will also relaunch the Vietnam Championship Series (“VCS”). With the  publishing transition, Riot aims to continue providing League pro teams and fans with the most  exciting and entertainment esports experiences.

From January 10th-11th, the LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS, and VCS will host a special two-day broadcasted event previewing the 2023 season and highlighting players to watch, giving fans a first look at Season 2023 on the Rift, and a peek at what’s in store for League  esports. More information about the event format and schedule will be released soon. The Kickoff event will replace the League of Legends All-Star Event.

Offline, In-Market Riot Events
