Hideki Kamiya Speaks On The Future Of Bayonetta & PlatinumGames Post His Departure
Hideki Kamiya, co-founder of PlatinumGames and the original director of Bayonetta, recently left the Japanese studio. Despite his departure, Kamiya anticipates that the Bayonetta franchise will continue without his involvement. Before leaving, he held the position of vice president and played a crucial role in overseeing franchises like Bayonetta and Astral Chain.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Kamiya expressed his expectation that Bayonetta will have a future, even though he won’t be able to realize his vision for the series. He shared his disappointment about not being able to complete his planned nine-episode saga for the Bayonetta series. Although he doesn’t own the Bayonetta intellectual property, Kamiya believes that those who do will likely continue the franchise.
Kamiya, who co-founded PlatinumGames in 2006, had a notable career at Capcom, directing games such as Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe during his time at its spin-off studio, Clover.
