By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|January 24, 2024|0 Comment
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is set to be a featured competitive title at the Esports World Cup, with the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) expanding their reach beyond Southeast Asia to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. This move is a first for these events.
Boasting over 1.46 billion installations and a monthly active user base exceeding 110 million, this popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game will bring together professional esports teams from 14 international regions and over 35 countries. These teams will compete for the largest prize pool in MLBB competitive history, amounting to US$3,000,000. Notably, MSC 2024 will introduce the Wild Card format, previously showcased in the M5 World Championship.
The Main Stage slots for MSC 2024 are allocated as follows:
MWI 2024 will feature an expanded prize pool of US$500,000, with 12 participating regions and countries from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia & Singapore, China, the Middle East & North Africa, Eastern Europe & Central Asia, the Mekong Region (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam), Brazil, and North America.
Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at Moonton Games, expressed excitement about this collaboration, describing it as a new chapter for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports and the global esports ecosystem. Ng highlighted the partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation and the expansion of MSC and MWI to Riyadh, emphasizing the opportunities for new regions to participate and the commitment to fostering greater diversity and inclusiveness.
MSC 2024 is scheduled to take place between 1 and 14 July. Further details on MWI dates and tournament formats will be announced later.
