Activision Blizzard Layoffs Lead To Closure Of Toys For Bob Offices

Toys for Bob’s future is uncertain following its closure in Novato, California, part of Xbox’s recent Activision Blizzard acquisition, which resulted in a total of 1,900 layoffs.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 86 employees from the former studio responsible for producing popular games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Skylanders have been laid off. Additionally, Call of Duty developer Sledgehammer Games has also let go of 76 employees.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding Toys for Bob, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a Hamilton Landing facility in Novato that formerly housed the studio was closed under a California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN).

In January, Microsoft initiated layoffs within its gaming division, affecting employees at Xbox, ZeniMax, and Activision Blizzard. Of the 1,900 staff laid off, 899 individuals were part of Activision Blizzard and its various subsidiaries.

At this stage, Toys for Bob may undergo major changes. Although no official announcement has been made, updates are expected in the months to come.
