James Gunn Retitles Superman Legacy To Superman, Official Logo Unveiled

Director James Gunn has revealed (via Threads) that he has changed the official title of the upcoming Superman Legacy to now simply “Superman”. He also revealed that filming has officially begun for the upcoming Superman movie, as well as unveiled the official logo for the Superman of the new DC Universe.

Superman stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern/Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), David Corenswet (Superman / Clark Kent), Milly Alcock, (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as archaeologist Rex Mason AKA Metamorpho, and more.

Superman is slated to premiere on 11 July 2025.

According to Warner Bros’ official logline, Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
