Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord remake leaves Early Access next month
Publisher and developer Digital Eclipse have confirmed that Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord remake will be leaving Early Access on multiple platforms next month.

The game was initially released in Early Access for PC on 15 September 2023. Since then, it has undergone significant updates such as version 0.2 Bestiary Unleashed, version 0.3 Blessings of Cant, and version 0.4 March of the Mad Overlord. The team asserts that these updates have major enhanced the game’s graphics, save slot improvements, several new music tracks, and much more.
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord was first released in 1981 and was the first home computer RPG to recreate the pen-and-paper experience of Dungeons & Dragons. The game was developed by Sir-Tech and spawned seven sequels over two decades.

Digital Eclipse has now acquired the licensed Wizardry trademark from Drecom and the copyrights to Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord from Sir-Tech, allowing for the development of a remake built directly on top of the Apple II code base.
The Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord remake will launch on 23 May 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via GOG and Steam.
