YouTube Distances Itself from Dr. Disrespect Following Accusations

It’s been quite the downfall for Guy Beahm AKA Dr. Disrespect as more and more business partners are leaving him following his Twitch ban scandal (full story here). The latest to do so is YouTube, as the company has confirmed that they have demonetized the Dr. Disrespect YouTube channel, which had over four million subscribers.

Speaking to Kotaku, a YouTube representative said:

“We have suspended monetization on DrDisrespect’s channel for violating our Creator Responsibility policy.

Our Creator Responsibility Guidelines are clear that if a creator’s off-platform behavior harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we may take action to protect our community, including by suspending monetization.

While these behaviors are rare, they can cause widespread harm to the YouTube community, and potentially damage the trust among creators, users, and advertisers.”

This also means that the action applies to any existing channels owned by Beahm and any new ones he might create in the future.

Last week, a former Twitch employee revealed that Dr. Disrespect was discovered sexting a minor and attempting to arrange a meetup at TwitchCon back in 2020. Since then, his own games studio, Midnight Society, have disassociated themselves from him, as well as the San Francisco 49ers.

Recently, 2K has also confirmed that Dr. Disrespect’s name and his animations will be removed from NBA 2K24. They will be replaced with generic names instead. Previously, Dr Disrespect had been featured in MyCareer, including his custom in-game jump shot and dunk style. This will be done once the Season 9 patch for the game releases.

Now that Dr. Disrespect is basically persona non grata on both YouTube and Twitch, where can he go now? Perhaps Kick? We’ll have to wait and see.
