JB To Host MPL Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs Amid Festival Fun
The MPL Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs kick off from 31 October to 3 November at Johor Bahru’s Educity Sports Complex in Iskandar Puteri. This event marks the first time the Playoffs are held outside the Klang Valley, offering free entry to the esports showdown alongside the family-friendly Southern Festival.
Six top teams are vying for national glory, a US$100,000 prize, and two coveted spots at the M6 World Championship, happening later this year in Malaysia, where they’ll compete among 23 teams globally for a US$1 million prize pool. The Grand Finals, happening on 3 November, will also welcome esteemed guests, including Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.
This event aligns with Malaysia’s RM20 million Madani Budget 2025 boost to the esports sector, marking a strong year for Malaysian esports. MOONTON Games’ Marketing Lead, Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, emphasised that this momentum has never been stronger, especially following Selangor Red Giants’ victory at the Mid Season Cup 2024. The Playoffs mark another giant step forward in Malaysia’s esports journey.
Festival Vibes at Southern Festival!

The Southern Festival, held alongside the Playoffs, promises a festive atmosphere with activities for all ages. Partnering with Foodelicious, the festival will feature over 100 food stalls and a lively lineup of DJs, buskers, and indie acts. Families can enjoy live cooking shows, art workshops, flower arranging classes, and an open mic, all for free!
MPL Anthem Drops Today
Adding to the hype, MPL Malaysia’s new anthem, “Jaguh” (Champion), debuts, performed by local artists XONE and Amir Masdi. Supported by Hotlink, “Jaguh” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music and will be performed live before the Grand Finals.
Playoff Format & Schedule

This year’s Playoffs will follow a hybrid elimination format. The 3rd to 6th-ranked teams start with the Play-Ins in a single-elimination Best-of-Five (BO5), advancing to a double-elimination BO5 in the Upper Bracket Semi Finals against the top-seeded teams Selangor Red Giants and Team Vamos. The intense Grand Finals showdown will be a Best-of-Seven (BO7) on 3 November.
