RGG Drops Mysterious New Game, Project Century At The Game Awards 2024

At The Game Awards 2024, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (aka the masterminds behind Yakuza) revealed their latest project, Project Century, set in 1915 Japan. The catch? Details are as elusive as a shadow in the fog – the footage shown was pre-alpha, meaning we’ve only scratched the surface.

What we did get from the brief reveal trailer was a glimpse of the setting, as well as some exciting gameplay. Unlike the turn-based combat in the recent Like a Dragon titles, Project Century opts for real-time combat, offering a more visceral brawler experience. In the trailer, we see the protagonist unleashing chaos in the streets, using everything from crowbars to glass jars to beat down opponents.

As for the story? Well, the clock’s ticking for that reveal – we only know the game’s time period and setting for now. But if RGG’s track record is anything to go by, Project Century is definitely one to keep an eye on.
