Back in 1997, Midway Games developed and published a Nintendo 64 (exclusive) sequel to a corridor shooter that was beloved by many and they were even supervised by game’s original developer, id Software. That’s right, I’m talking about Doom 64 and it looks like the game is finally coming to modern platforms.

In July 2019, we were pleasantly surprised to find the game being listed on the PEGI (the European counterpart of the ESRB) website which clearly showed that the game would be released for PC and PS4. [via Gematsu]

PEGI has rated DOOM 64 for PS4 and PC. This was in addition to ratings of DOOM (1993) and DOOM II (Classic). There’s no DOOM 3 rating. pic.twitter.com/5CtEBtV61X

Recently, the Australian Classification Board has also given the game a new rating. Both of the ratings have been jointly applied for by Zenimax and Bethesda, so we can be sure that this isn’t just some hell-spawned coincidence. [via Bloody Disgusting]

It may be a bit disappointing to see that other consoles such as the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch aren’t listed but do note that back when the ratings for DOOM and DOOM II were given by PEGI, they also only listed PC and PS4 and yet those games also came out for Xbox One and Switch.
