Sniper Elite Board Game Delays Kickstarter Campaign Launch Due To COVID-19
The Sniper Elite board game’s Kickstarter campaign launch has been delayed due to a term we’ve gotten familiar with over the past couple months: COVID-19.
However, the reason isn’t due to an infection within the development team or difficulties caused by social distancing, but something else. “We know how troubling a time this is for everyone in this unprecedented global crisis, and the huge challenges we are all set to face in the coming weeks and months,” said Rebellion Unplugged, Rebellion’s board game division.
“With all that in mind, we’ve taken the difficult decision to delay launching the Sniper Elite the Board Game Kickstarter campaign,” they added. “Simply put, we don’t want to ask you to support the project right now when there are bigger, more important things to worry about.”
Rebellion Unplugged also said that the game is progressing “really well”, and that they are now planning to launch the Kickstarter campaign later this year. In the meantime, they’ll also be working on a single-player mode and other new content, and promise more tabletop announcements in the near future.
The reason behind the Kickstarter launch delay makes sense, and it’s a pretty admirable move from the developers too. In the meantime, the Sniper Elite series is on sale on Steam, with eight-and-a-half hours left to go at the time of writing.
