Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios Is Developing A New PlayStation IP
By Alleef Ashaari|March 17, 2021|0 Comment
Jade Raymond has announced the establishment of Haven Entertainment Studios, a Montreal-based games developer under Sony Interactive Entertainment. They’re currently already working on an unannounced original IP for PlayStation (presumably for both PS4 and PS5).
According to PlayStation Blog, Haven will be an independent studio that will refocus on GAMES in a place where developers can practice their “crafts without any barriers or impediments”.
Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Raymond said:
“Launching an independent studio with the backing of Sony Interactive Entertainment gives us full freedom to push boundaries with the support of a publisher that deeply understands the creative process of making games and is known for exceptional quality and a player-first approach.”
Raymond is a games industry veteran, previously working in high positions at Google Stadia, EA and Ubisoft. Most notably, she helped create the Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs franchises at Ubisoft. Her last job before this was as the lead at Google Stadia Games & Entertainment, which ultimately closed down in February 2021.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Hermen Hulst added:
“Sony Interactive Entertainment is proud to support and invest in Haven and its future.
We understand the challenges and rewards of building creative teams from the ground up, as does Jade with her wealth of experience helming many of gaming’s biggest franchises.
We’re confident in and excited for the bright future of Haven Studios and its first project, currently in development.â€
