Square Enix To Reveal Marvel’s Avengers Game At E3 2019

Remember Square Enix‘s long-gestating Avengers Project game developed by Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics that was initially announced back in 2017? It is now officially titled Marvel’s Avengers, and the developer has announced that it will be unveiled at its E3 2019 press conference.

The news broke via the game’s official Twitter account, with its first and only tweet to date announcing the Marvel’s Avengers worldwide reveal at 6pm PT on 10 June 2019 (or 9am on 11 June 2019 GMT+8) during Square Enix’s Live E3 2019 event.

Nothing else was revealed about the game, other than what might be its official logo. According to past reports, we already know that Marvel’s Avengers will feature a completely original story and introduce a universe of its own.

However, surely it’s not a coincidence that they’ve changed the name from the Avengers Project to Marvel’s Avengers, which sounds more in line and in-theme with Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. Perhaps they could even be set in the same universe? Fingers crossed.

The Marvel (and by extension, the Avengers) brand is currently at its highest peak ever, with Avengers Endgame recently releasing and still breaking plenty of cinematic records as we speak.

If the game does turn out to have a 2019 release date, it will be one of the most highly-anticipated major games to be released in the second half of this year alongside other titles like Death Stranding and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order.

In the meantime, re-watch the original Avengers Project / Marvel’s Avengers announcement trailer from early 2017 to tide you over for now.
